Business Central Default Values

The BC–Dataverse Integrator allows users to configure default values for specific Business Central fields when records are created from Dataverse.

This feature is useful in scenarios where certain fields should always be populated with a fixed value and do not require a direct mapping from Dataverse.

Instead of creating a field mapping, users can define a default value that will automatically be applied when a new record is created in Business Central through the integration.

Default values can be configured in different ways depending on the field type:

  • Simple text or numeric values
  • A related record from another table (for fields with table relations)
  • A value from an enum (for fields based on enumerations)

This flexibility allows users to satisfy required Business Central fields and enforce consistent data creation without adding unnecessary mappings.

Important: If a field is configured with a default value and is also included in the field mappings, the default value will take precedence, and the mapped value will be ignored.

This guide explains how to configure default values within the integration process.

Set Business Central Default Values

  1. Navigate to the Integration Foundation Setup page
  2. Under the Mappings menu tab, click on Table Mappings
  3. Locate the Table Mapping which includes the field to set the Default Value for
  4. Click on BC Default Values
  1. Select the BC Field No. for which the default value will be set
  2. Click on the Assist Edit of the field BC Default Value
  3. Select the value to set as default
