Understanding Subscription Types

LISA BusinessPro ships with three in-built Subscription Types. These are:

Perpetual + Enhancement Plan

Used when the subscription is triggered by a perpetual sale. For example a vehicle is sold (implying transfer of ownership) but a yearly maintenance and road-side assistance fee applies -or- a license is sold perpetually but with a yearly maintenance fee. The billing type in this case is Up-front i.e. at the beginning of the period which they cover.

Per Unit Subscriptions

This is the most common subscription type such as those used by Cloud Solution Providers (CSPs), music and movie streaming services etc. The billing type in this case is Up-front i.e. at the beginning of the period which they cover.

Consumption Subscriptions

These are subscriptions based on consumption or activity. Typical examples would be a utility bill, or consumption-based cloud services such as Microsoft Azure. The billing type in this case is In arrears as the vendor needs to calculate the customer’s consumption for the period before sending out the invoice to the customer.

Subscription plan lines can be optionally be linked to customer meters to record meter consumption and invoice it via the action generated. This is most applicable to the utilities or software consumption industries.
